British Sandwich Week is a week-long celebration of the greatest food to go and quite possibly the most iconic British culinary invention, the Sandwich! Sandwiches are the ultimate fast food, portable, easy to make and can be eaten at any meal occasion fitting in to all our busy lifestyles.
Monday is also bank holiday so why not combine the 2!
As the sun is set to shine on Monday why not make some delicious sandwiches and have a picnic in the garden.
Sandwiches are a great way to get salad and vegetables into children’s diets. Add lovely salad leaves, make fun shapes and hide ingredients in the fillings for example finely chopped spinach into an egg mayo sandwich. For older children why not make sandwich kebabs by cutting into small pieces and threading them on skewers in between chunks of cucumber, cherry tomatoes, pepper or salad leaves.
For the grown ups sandwiches do not have to be soggy and boring! Let your imagination run wild. Make a double or triple decker, use interesting breads, wraps or rolls and mix up fillings to be colourful and tasty!
